Congratulations Chelsea!

I know it's been a long time but I'm back and boy are you in for a treat! This last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a wonderful high school graduate and her family. I was truly impressed by all of them. For some reason I've had a difficult time getting this post up. Part of it has been life but tonight I figured out that the other part has been a reluctance to post before I have everything edited. I just know there are going to be more gems once this shoot is completely edited. If I'm right (and I know I will be) I'll be back with a second glimpse for you later.

I promise I'll be back with more of Chelsea and some of her wonderful family soon. Until then I'll end this post just how I started it.

The H Family is back finally!

So I know it's been awhile since I teased you about another session with one of my favorite families. This cold season has really hit my family hard but I'm back now with the promised sneak peak! Here they are....

Tess is always so fun to take photos of. A born performer she's a natural in front of the camera and comes to each session with a million idea's of her own. This won't be the last you see of Tess.

Introducing Jen

It had been awhile since I had truly found myself behind the lens of a camera. Life had simply gotten in the way, which made this mini session with my sweet Jen all the more exciting. Downtown Blue Springs was the perfect backdrop. Bright, spunky, sassy and with a style all her own is a perfect description of Jen. Hope you enjoy this preview as much as I did the session.

Meet Jay

When I first agreed to this shoot I have to admit to being a bit nervous. I've done plenty of sessions before but a male senior portrait session was new to me. I wasn't more than a few minutes into the session before I realized I had nothing to worry about. Jay, a bright highschool senior already taking college courses in a special early admittance program, was a joy to photograph. He's a natural in front of the camera and a terrific young man. Thanks for letting me take your Senior portraits Jay. I hope you like them.

Finding the me in about me

For years every time anyone asked about me they got an answer that really didn't tell much about who I was. It went something like this, "I am the wife of a 100% disabled veteran, the mother of three beautiful children, an advocate for my Autistic son..." All you wives and mother's out there know the spiel and don't get me wrong all that is a huge part of who I am but I realized that there was something missing in that answer. Where was the ME in me so about five years ago I went looking for it. Starting with going back to college. In the very first class I took I became enthralled with the portfolio a fellow student was creating for his photography class. It amazed me, mostly because it answered a question that I had been asking for years with a very obvious answer. "How do I capture all the beauty I see around me?" Well, with a camera of course. It was like someone turned a light on for me. I went home and told my husband I was going to be a photography major. He looked at me for a moment and then said "Don't you think you ought to try taking pictures before you make a decision like that." The thing was I really didn't need to. I knew right then what I wanted to do. So I bought a camera started taking pictures and in my lens I found something amazing, something I had been looking for for the longest time, I found me. Okay so now you know why I take pictures, what your probably asking is, "Why portraits?" Well, that's easy. I found out who I really was with a camera. Now I want to use my camera to capture who you really are.
